Humidifiers are important to your heating needs because, with proper humidity you can lower the temperature in your home and feel warmer.
Just think how much hotter it is in the summer when the humidity is high. There are obvious and not so obvious reasons to have a humidifier– everyone knows about static cling, dry skin, walls cracking, wood framework shrinking. But do you know that dry noses, scratchy throat are also common. Trips to the doctor for a sore throat sometimes are not necessary.
Medical experts claim many viruses thrive in low humidity and increase the likelihood of getting colds, flu and upper respiratory ailments. An overly dry environment can also make people more susceptible to infection. Some experts say static electric charges can damage electronic equipment. The new humidifiers are almost maintenance-free. No more water in a tray– no lime deposits to scrape off. They are called by-pass or flo-thru, meaning water passes through, not collecting and going down a drain.
Depending on the type -The older models with water in the tray, we all know need to be cleaned of lime every 3 months. The newer style with no water tray only needs to have the water panel replaced once a year. The fittings at the saddle valve and solenoid valve should be checked to be tight and leak free. Inspect water feed tube and replace if cracked or worn. Make sure it is properly inserted into nozzle or water tray. Check the drain line.
As you may know, we have sold the Lobb humidifier in the past – we are now offering our customers who had purchased a Lobb from us a special price of $350.00 to replace it with one of the newer styles. We have Aprilaire in this style– We have had a great response from some of our customers that have already replaced their existing humidifiers. The Aprilaire has a manual and automatic humidity control.
